Message from the Commissioner
Royal Canadian Mounted Police

Working for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police has certainly changed the course of my life, offering me countless opportunities to learn new skills and grow in my career.

Peacekeeping in Kosovo taught me about the realities of life in a war-torn country and the importance of restoring democracy in the context of law enforcement. It also reinforced that when serving communities, the objectives are constant regardless of location. Whether I was serving in provinces across Canada or taking part in a peacekeeping mission abroad, the goal was still the same: to keep people safe. This starts with building understanding and trust, and recognizing that you’re only one small part of a much bigger picture.

The RCMP partners with community services, police organizations, provincial and territorial governments, national Indigenous organizations, and many others. We’re also part of a global community, co-operating with the United Nations and other allies to build a safer world, which in turn helps us enjoy a safer Canada. Peacekeepers are an essential part of our international efforts, and their work is recognized and appreciated all over the world.
